Quick Bio
Erin Yonke has 30 years of combined experience between Partner Acrobatics, Gymnastics and Cheer. She truly feels that many of these disciplines “speak the same language” and loves to blend all types of acrobatics into an approachable practice for all ages and levels. In 2017 she co-founded The Movement Sanctuary; which was a circus arts gym in St. Petersburg FL, training with some of the top Circus Professionals in the industry. Erin holds two National Championship titles from her cheer day [early 2000’s] and currently serves as a board member for the Non-profit “St. Pete Acro Yoga”. She’s also worked in Dance Studios since 2020, taking her tumbling background into the world of dance.
“I believe anything is possible with strong foundational skills and proper technique! I love combining many forms of Acrobatics into approachable content for all levels, making it as fun [and safe] as possible.”
Teaching Methods
Working Slowly & Safely
Technique is taught slowly. There is no rushing through the fundamentals, just like learning any other sport, language, instrument, skill, etc. Through private lessons, I make sure we build step by step to ensure longevity of the practice, and awareness to the body.
Diverse Methods
Each child is different, there is no one size fits all for teaching them either. Over the years I’ve developed a skill set of coaching for all various types of athlete’s. By using visual aids (such as Bendy Wendy), auditory cues, and hands-on methods, it ensures students understand what they are working on.
Positive Mental Attitude
In non-contact sports, athletes are typically scored based on ‘perfection’ which can be subjective based on each judge, routine, skill, style, difficulty, etc. This herein creates an idealistic mindset of perfection.
Going against the grain here, I try and help students achieve this ‘perfect look’ without being too hard on themselves.
